The roasted pears with chocolate sounds good, especially the “adult version” in the dessert section.

Although I love SMores it’s nice to have other dessert recipes that can be made while camping. Thanks for sharing.

Love the idea of the pears. Me and the grill are going to have a go this summer, since I can’t actually sit around a campfire yet, and I refuse to wait to try them. Happy eating! Try bananas along the same vein. Pull down one strip of peel, leaving the rest intact. Cut out a hollow along the opening (in one piece if possible.) in your hollow mix chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, (and maybe some adult content? How about chocolate or banana liquor?) Place banana wedge back on top, squishing down if necessary, replace peel, and wrap firmly with tinfoil. Dump in campfire, bake for10-20 minutes depending on the state of your fire, open carefully–it will be hot and messy–and enjoy with a spoon. It’s been 50 years since I was at Girl Scout camp, but the memories are still fresh.

These all sound wonderful! Never thought of pears with chocolate chips. We’ve made Banana Boats using bananas, chocolate chips and marshmallows before so I’m really looking forward to trying the pear version!

I actually can’t stand s’mores. I will try these donuts though, and maybe glaze them with chocolate ganache.

We’ve used the donut recipe during BSA recruiting events. Big hit. The ice cream hack might be happening at work.

I can’t wait to try the doughnuts and ice cream, it would be an awesome treat if my nephews were going along this weekend, but since they are off to the beach we won’t need to buy as much stuff and we can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet….. except for all the wildlife. A weekend along the river is always better than a week on the beach, they are missing out. If you have never been down “The Trough” in Hardy and Hampshire counties, West Virginia you are missing out on a fantastic trip!

My two favorite camping desserts (other than s’mores of course) are banana boat sundaes (bananas still in the peel with a little bit cut out and yummy stuff added in, wrapped in foil and set on the edge of campfire coals), and campfire pies (putting buttered bread, and whatever filling you’d like inside of one of these [http://www.rei.com/zoom/z/1137720.jpg/440] and setting it in the coals for a few minutes to cook)
